Part One: Death is not a Joyful Event
To start with, death is not the desire of God for mankind. Satan brought the curse of death upon man. Gen 3:1-7, 17-19. This is the reason why Jesus referred to him as a murderer from the beginning. John 8:44; Hebrew 2:14. Whenever the curse of death comes to pass in one’s life, it is not a joyous thing unto God Gen 4:9-13.
God said “For I have no pleasure in the death of him that die…… Ezekiel 18:32; 33:10-11”. If the death of a sinner does not please God, it is however certain that he can have pleasure in the death of His Saints. Psalm 116:8, 15; 72:14; Rev. 6:9-11; 16:4-7; 18:20-21; 19:1-3. Only the living are useful unto God while the dead are not. Psalm 115:17; Psalm 118:17; Isaiah 38:18-19; Eccl 9:4-6.
This is one of the reasons why God allowed the dead to be brought back to life. John 11:41-44; Matt 10:7-8; Acts 9:36-41; 20:7-12. Man desires no death. Isaiah 38:1-5.
The apostles escaped from death. Acts 14:5-7. They also gave thanks unto God when He delivered them from the hand of death. 2Cor 1:8-10; Phil 2:25-30. The church was equally charged to pray for the sick in order not to die James 5:14-15.

Whenever anyone dies, it is not a period of joy but that of sorrow. Eccl 3:1,4; 7:2-4; Gen 49:33; 50:1-13; 2Sam 1:17-19, 24-27; John 11:32-36; Acts 8:2; 9:36-39. No burial was done amidst ceremony and merry making for anyone in the Bible.
The only honour or last respect unto a good person in the Bible is mourning. 1Kings 14:12-13; Jere 34:4-5.
